Singapore was KEWL!!!
Monday, June 27th, 2005Hi Hi…. Went to Singapore recently. National SALE. Bought a cordless phone with to handsets and 2 staions for my sis and I. We kept on figthing over the old phone. Got so pissed, I decided to buy this for the both of us. Weird huh? Most ppl would buy an MP3 or a handphone, or CDs, but this weird fella… ended up buying a house-phone! Y ppl wonder. Well, I found a Philips model that has not come to Malaysia yet, and it’s cheaper than the Panasonic ones in KL. Cheaper by RM70-100. So dun play play.
But enough about what i bought. I organized this trip to Singapore to have fun with some of my close friends from both college and Boys’ Brigade. And boy, did I ever.
The adventure actually begins on the 22nd, the day before we left. I picked up Mark Leong and Eric because they were to stay at my place for the noght and we go off to the bus station the next day. On that night, I, with my mom, double checked everything. From the place we stayed, to transport. When we were satisfied, I went to be with my 2 frens. I picked up Eric from Sunway (half an hour late, damn traffic, sorry Eric), then Mark Leong from a Capoeira (Brazillian dancing martial arts, very cool) centre in Damansara Jaya. From there we stopped by Starbucks to grab a drink, walked a bit and went home because i bought 2 dvds and we wanted to watch one of them. We got ready for bed, got ourselves comfortable and watched the movie. After 2 hours of laughin to our guts hurt (it was a comedy) we went to bed. Mark Leong slept well, Eric was too excited to sleep so he had naps in between the night. I, on the other hand, could not sleep a wink. I was thinkin and praying throughout the night. Thinking about the problems that might occur, and praying for strength and a smooth trip. Before i knew it, it was 6 in the morning and I had to wake up the other 2 and got ready to leave.
After breakfast, Tseng Yang and Daniel came over to my place, and we were to head off. But then, the first problem occured. The car that was to take us there had a dead battery. But thank God, it was given a jump-start and off we went. We got to the station at 0830hrs. There Stephanie and Chui Lee, the only 2 gurls out of 7 ppl in the group going. I was embarassed, though i didn’t look it, because that was the first time ever a girl had to wait for me. This time it was 2. DOUBLE WHAMMY!! Sorry girls. Normally i had to wait on a girl. Oh well, there’s a first for everything.
We left on a NiCE Bus (that’s the name of the Co. and i IS really nice) at 0845hrs. It was a 4 hour drive excluding a 20 minute break in between and going through Customs. By the time we got to Metropolitan Y (owned by YMCA), and checked in it was 1430hrs. we were tired, so we rested for and hour or so. At 1545hrs we hed off to Orchard road. We decided to walk as the weather was good and there were sidewalks all the way there. SIDEWALKS…. 6 ft in width of them throughout every road, street, and highway. God Bless Singapore. Malaysia ought to do that. The ammount of floras around the roads is envious. Limitless ammount of shade, trees, and, get this, FRESH AIR around the roads. You can barely smell the fumes from the cars. Incredible.
So when we got to Orchard, we split into groups and planned to meet at a certain poin 2 hours later. It became a girls and boys split at first…. But when i lost the other guys in Borders bookstore, I went ala-carte. Went to differ prices on my phone. Ridiculous most of the prices… so i went hang-kai most of the time. Borders, 5 different plazas, stopped to have a coffee, then moved on to other places. Then i met Eric. Very hard to not notice him, wif his orange shirt, blue jeans and ever present Timberland bag… it had to be him. So we wnet around together, till it was time to meet up wif the others. From there we took an MRT from Orchard to Raffles Place. here we walked along Singapore River to the Esplanade.
There we had dinner. Whoa, did we eat… There was so much food. I mean we thougt it was gonna be Malaysian size. But it turned out to be Mat Salleh size. S$8 for a plate of char kuay teow enough to fee 3 ppl. Mark Leong saw some breakdancing in the Esplenade for a while b4 joining us. then we continued touring around, walked and talked.
We got back to the hotel at 10sumthin. the girls went to sleep early, the boys talked till past midnight. Daniel, Mark Leong and I prayed and thanked God for the day, and the next day.
To be continued….
